Yesterday was the opening for Student Annual 2009 art show at Illinois State University. I was lucky enough to get a video in this year again (last year I was too with Space Dementia). So that was cool that I even got accepted in, but then I also was even more lucky and privileged to win the Arts Tech award for it, which is pretty sweet. I’m pretty psyched. This is just the video that I got in this year, which is a bunch of time-lapses done from my window way up here in Watterson Towers.

Well I kinda rushed out the last post in a hurry once I had the theme applied, so I didn’t really get to say much. So here are just some stuff to look out for on the new theme:
1. I made it myself, this was like my first time ever doing something like this, I pretty much would come up with an idea for it, learn how to code it, do it, then come up with next idea. My bad if stuff doesn’t quite work perfect yet, I’m admittedly a n00b.
2. The basic premise was to be as simplistic as possible while still allowing it to do everything I wanted it to. This means little things like showing if there are notes but then hiding that info away if there weren’t any and also getting everything but the posts to be stationary. I wanted the header and sidebar to stay put where they are, which is actually what took me the longest to get right. Even once I got them to stick around, there were tons of problems with different browsers and sizing of windows. Then the big problem with the sidebar not moving is that if it goes off your screen on lower resolutions, you wont be able to use it.
3. To solve the sidebar problem, I turned to javascript for the Twitter menu. If you didn’t know, clicking the “Twitter” in the sidebar will show or hide my tweets. For some of you, this may be very apparent as it doesn’t start opened when you visit my site, but in actuallity, I used a different bit of javascript to find the size of your window when you loaded the page and actually show/hide the tweets depending on your screen resolution. So for those of you with nice big ole’ screens, you might never have noticed you can minimize it unless you accidentally clicked it.
4. Basically I just wanted to give my Tumblr a feeling of not being just a modified default theme and actually look like decent site, since my major after all is Arts Technology…
Anyways, hopefully you like it so far! If you have any suggestions let me know and I’ll do my best to figure out if I can solve them. I know there might be some minor quirks in some older/more obscure browsers. And if your twitter bar is opening itself and getting cut off, then let me know because I’m still tweaking the javascript. My contact info is on the right of my theme. →
And sorry if this post is like kinda long and boring, I’m just kinda proud of myself for at least getting this much done myself, again this is my first try at this stuff :)

I just recently noticed that I never did put up the final version of my Space Dementia video I made last year. So here it is. Enjoy, again. Again, click the link to watch it from vimeo.com if you wanna see it in much better than embeded here.
