I made a visualizer in Processing for my final project in Software Design II. I couldn’t really think of a way to show you what it does on this blog so I figured I’d just give it to you as an app for ur Mac if you have one. So yeah, click the picture or HERE and try it yourself! Note: You need to have a Mac and a webcam for it to work.

Download that and just double click to unzip then open the folder it created and try either of the included songs. Just open them and you should see ur pretty face pop up to make sure it’s working, so then you can hit the M key to show the metadata, W will bring up the wavelengths (recommended) and then just hit the space bar to start or pause :)

The visualizer will take a still on each beat and then compare it to what it is still seeing live. I recommend you start with Untrust Us to see this working at its best. The wavelength’s amplitudes increase to the beat as well.

Keep moving (especially your arms!) to see it working the best, but some neat tricks you can do are hold still and just blink very fast or move your eyes left and right quickly. You can only see moving things so play around with it. If you hold perfectly still and only sing along, you will only see your mouth. There are some cool things you can do so just keep dancing and having fun :D
